If you have spent a great deal of time trying to make good gluten free bread only to be sorely disappointed, give this one a try. As it turns out, the hot and humid environment created inside a crockpot is the perfect place for getting that gluten free dough to rise!

And the BEST part is that it has a light and chewy texture, tastes great, and is SUPER easy to make!


Take 1 box of 365 Gluten Free Sandwich Bread Mix from Whole Foods. Follow the package instructions for the oven method – add butter, warm water (use HOT instead), eggs, and the yeast packet that’s in the box.

Grease a loaf pan and add your gluten free mix. Place the loaf pan in a 6 quart crockpot and prop the lid ajar slightly with a spoon or other utensil.

Cook on high for 2-5 hours depending on altitude. Remove the loaf from pan and let it cool before slicing.

You’ll have an airy, moist, and yummy gluten free bread in time without all the fuss and muss! I can honestly say I did NOT think this would work. I LOVE my crockpot, but I seriousy did not expect to get anything but a sticky lump of dough from a crockpot. Boy, was I dead wrong. And the best part was my kids loved it and they actually thought we were back to buying “normal” bread.
